Jiménez Cruz Peña has worked on economic regulation issues arising out of various sectors of the economy, namely, the telecommunications and energy sectors. The firm has successfully represented electric companies on rate issues, restrictions on concessions already granted, and the establishment of charges for the provision of services.

We actively participated in the discussions leading to the approval of the Law in Defense of Competition and the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights.

We have also advised the regulating agency for the telecommunications industry, the Dominican Telecommunications Institute, in matters of competition and regulation of markets, conflicts among service providers, and issues related to competition and alleged abuse of a dominant position.

One of the firm partners, Marcos Peña Rodríguez, is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Pro-Consumidor, an agency created by the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights.
